Student Risk Assessments

Assessment to Return to School
Being a child or a teenager can be challenging at times. There is so much that has to be learned. Social skills and emotion regulation are two process that take time to master. It is not uncommon that children or teens, who are still learning these processes and skills, in a moment of distress, may say or do something that could worry others. When this happens at school, it is the responsibility of school administrators to be sure that the child or teen gets assess and helped for the safety of the child and the safety of others. Most of the time, this is just a preventive measure.
This routine process keeps everyone’s well-being in mind. Some schools require that after an incident or outcry, the child bring proof that they have been seen by a mental health professional before returning to school.
We can help your child/teen with this need. We meet with the child and their parents and we review what happened together. If all is well, you will receive the proof needed to return to school, and if a concern is found, you will receive your assessment proof, professional recommendations, and a plan for follow up.
Keep in mind that sometimes what appears to be a crisis is just an opportunity to produce changes and/or learn new skills.
We try our best to schedule these assessments as soon as possible. Most times the same or the next day. We know you and your family are ready to get back to your daily routines.
